# Heat Pump Grants NI > Independent information service, not a government website. Last reviewed: 3 October 2026. ## Current support and planned changes - Northern Ireland is outside the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. The old NI Boiler Replacement Scheme is closed. - NISEP 2026/27 lists targeted heat-pump support. Green Heat NI offers fully funded air source heat pumps and insulation for qualifying owner-occupiers. Gross income thresholds: below £28,000 single person or £35,000 couple/family. Qualifying heating, property assessment and available funding are required. Contact nisep@refreshni.com; see the official list for full rules. - Affordable Warmth: main-home owner-occupiers or private tenants with assessed gross annual household income below £23,000. Some disability/caring benefits are excluded. Prioritised heating/insulation grants up to £7,500 or £10,000 for solid-wall measures. Other conditions and landlord agreement apply. NI Energy Advice: 0800 111 4455. Not a general heat-pump grant. - DfC plans the Warm Healthy Homes Fund to replace Affordable Warmth from April 2027; final rules and any heat-pump coverage require confirmation. - DfE is developing separate wider low-carbon heating support: its January 2026 announcement plans design/financial-option work in 2026 and legislation in 2027 before launch. Launch date, grant amounts and final eligibility are not confirmed in that announcement. - HMRC relief: eligible residential heat-pump installation, with equipment supplied by the installer, is zero-rated until 31 March 2027; 5% from 1 April 2027 under current rules. Separate retail equipment purchases are normally standard-rated; other work may differ. - England/Wales BUS: £7,500 for eligible air-to-water or ground-source systems, plus £1,500 until March 2027 for oil/LPG properties without a mains gas connection; £2,500 for air-to-air systems. These grants do not apply in NI. - Republic of Ireland: SEAI combined heat-pump, heating-upgrade and renewable-heat bonus grants total up to €12,500, subject to individual conditions. Scotland has separate Home Energy Scotland grant/loan support. ## Sources - https://www.gov.uk/apply-boiler-upgrade-scheme/what-you-can-get - https://www.uregni.gov.uk/publications/northern-ireland-sustainable-energy-programme-list-schemes-20262027-published - https://www.nihe.gov.uk/housing-help/affordable-warmth/affordable-warmth-scheme - https://www.communities-ni.gov.uk/articles/warm-healthy-homes-fund - https://www.economy-ni.gov.uk/news/minister-publishes-response-consultation-low-carbon-heating-support - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vat-on-energy-saving-materials-and-heating-equipment-notice-7086 - https://www.seai.ie/blog/heat-pump-grant - https://www.homeenergyscotland.org/home-energy-scotland-grant-loan ## Pages and contact - https://heatpumpgrantsni.co.uk/ - https://heatpumpgrantsni.co.uk/privacy.html The four-question checker identifies routes to check, not eligibility.
